Royal Canadian Air Cadets at 179 Morden Squadron

Provided By Royal Canadian Air Cadets

Service Description

is a federally-sponsored program for young Canadians ages 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of challenging and rewarding activities, and learning more about the Canadian Forces.

Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They learn valuable life and work skills like teamwork, leadership, and citizenship.

Cadets participate in training on a weekly basis during the regular school year an average of one night a week. In addition, there are Cadet Summer Training Centres (CSTCs) from coast to coast in Canada where course cadets receive training and staff cadets are employed each summer in the CSTCs and abroad on cultural and training exchanges.

Cadets are not part of the Canadian Forces, nor is there any expectation for them to join the military.

Air Cadets learn about the traditions of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and participate in flight-related activities, including learning to pilot gliders and planes. Air Cadets have a chance to earn their civilian pilot licenses through the Air Cadet program. Senior Air Cadets have the opportunity to travel to many countries through international exchanges.
