Service Description

* is dedicated to achieving increased net incomes for producers, increasing the contribution of the agri-food sector to the provincial economy, enhancing the quality of the resources upon which agriculture depends
* achieves these goals by focusing efforts at these points along the continuum from research to the consumer that will contribute most significantly to the successful development of crop production, marketing, and value-added processing to the province
* works as a team, striving to meet the needs of clients through applied research, technology transfer, and extension education
* Programs Offered:

Crop Diversification Section: provides safe, effective recommendations on weeds, insect and disease control requirements; (potato, crop agronomist, entomologist, weed, plant and vegetable specialists)

Agricultural Resources Section: carry out activities to sustain and enhance agricultural soil and water resources; (agriculture land, soil management, agriculture resources, GIS and nutrient specialists)

Crop Development Section: develops and extends information to assist producers and the agri-food industry in the development of forage, cereal, oilseed, pulse and special crops; (Crop, forage, soil, oilseed, pulse crop, weed and organic specialists)

Apiculture and Crop Diagnostic Section: provides technical and extension information related to the management of honey bees and leaf-cutting bees;

Controlled Burning Program: helps farmers find out when and where burning is allowed;
