Service Description

* provides leadership support to the 63 City of Winnipeg community centres, to ensure they have the resources to perform their day-to-day responsibilities, and are meeting the recreation / leisure programming needs for their neighbourhood communities
* promotes community development by helping community centres expand the number of programs offered
* offers special training courses for volunteers
* assists community centre volunteers to perform their responsibilities in areas including: Executive and Board Development, Financial Accountability, Program Development and Policy Development
* provides annual board orientations, governance; financial, legal issues, develops community centre policies and procedures via Executive and Board Development
* provides assistance to centres in financial business planning, annual budgets, financial statements via Financial Accountability
* assists community centres in the development of new programs, identifying potential program partnerships via Program Development
* helps to ensure that City of Winnipeg policies are adopted as required via Policy Development
* promote / encourages the highest standards of recreational services for all community citizens
* provides financial support for the development of new programs, and sustain existing program through the administration of grants: registration subsidies; athletic fields maintenance; programming grants
* represents Community Centres in all areas of Winnipeg, including Assiniboine South, Downtown, Fort Garry, Inkster, Point Douglas, River East, River Heights, St. Boniface, St. James-Assiniboia, St. Vital, Seven Oaks, Transcona
