Back to School Supports

In a few weeks, over 200,000 Kindergarten to grade 12 students will be headed to school across Manitoba.

As the whole family makes the transition into back-to-school mode, there are a variety of stressors that effect both kids and parents alike—from adjusting to a new routine, being assigned difficult homework and having a stricter bedtime.

Did you know there are homework clubs in drop–in centres and other community centres throughout Manitoba? Click here for a list of homework help services. Schools may also offer extended day programs. To find out more, contact your child’s school or school division directly.

For parents new to child care click here for some resources. We don’t list all child care facilities in the province, but you can find them by following the link to Licenced Child Care Search.

For resources for children with disabilities visit here. Scroll to the bottom of the page for a site near you.

If you are looking for out-of-school programs, local parenting networks or child care subsidy programs, go to www.mb.211.ca and select the “Child and Parenting” tile followed by “Recreation for Children” and/or “Child Care”.

In addition to this, over 60,000 students will be returning to post-secondary institutions or going away for the first time. If you are a post secondary student looking for financial aid, rent assistance, or student housing select “Financial” followed by “Youth” or select one of the hyperlinks.
