Agency Description

* researches and develops specific claims relating to non compliance with Treaties and/or actions by the Federal government under the Indian Act, on behalf of 54 of the 60 Indian First Nations in Manitoba.
* maintains a collection of information (Research Centre) focusing on Indian history.
* prepares claims on behalf of the First Nation, submits these to the federal government, and assists the Band in negotiations which follow. General Indian issues and rights are also researched, including such themes as hunting, fishing, trapping and gathering rights, other Treaty rights, and Indian land.
