Service Description

Provides coordination and consultation for provincial public health programs including vaccines, environmental health, water fluoridation, food protection, public health epidemiology, surveillance, communicable diseases and other infectious diseases, such as sexually transmitted infections, Lyme disease, West Nile virus.Is responsible for the surveillance and epidemiology of all communicable diseases in Manitoba.Provides consultation to health care professionals on a range of public health issues.Food Protection Program: Ph: 788-6735; is concerned with any food complaints or food borne diseases and is responsible for enforcement of regulations concerning food products. Can provide information to the public concerning food quality and safety. Manitoba Immunization Monitoring System, MIMS isManitoba's provincial immunization registry. It is used to record all immunizations given to residents, including those administered by physicians, public health nurses and other health care providers. This information is used to monitor the immunization status of residents and assists in evaluating and planning immunization programs. Contact local public health office for immunization records.
