Service Description

* provides financial assistance to make adaptations to homes and rental housing units by eligible homeowners with low-incomes plus landlords who have tenants with low incomes

* is for adaptations that will help increase the mobility, safety, independence of a person in the home who finds it difficult to do everyday tasks

* is for Eligible Disabilities or Limitations that may be related to mobility, agility, endurance, sight, hearing, mental capacity (poor memory or mental difficulties)

* includes (but is not limited to):

* installing handrails in hallways, stairways

* changes to Kitchen, bathroom, laundry room storage areas

* installing lever handles on doors, sinks, bathtubs

* installing grab bars in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom

* installing wheel chair ramps

* widening entryways, interior doors

* changing tubs, sinks, vanities, toilets

* installing lift systems in bathrooms, bedrooms

* changing floor covering

* moving plumbing, electrical

* may provide up to $16,000 ($19,000 if the property is located in a northern or remote community) to qualified homeowners or landlords for eligible adaptations.
